Boujaad (also spelled Boujad) belongs to an entirely different register from the restrained Beni Ourain — instead of raw ivory, it's dominated by saturated pink, red, orange and violet. It's woven in the region around the town of Boujaad, on the Tadla plains at the foot of the Middle Atlas, where local Berber women have for generations paired sheep's wool with intense colour — traditionally using henna, saffron, poppy or indigo. Unlike the minimalist rugs of higher-altitude regions, Boujaad was often part of a bride's trousseau — woven by a young woman or her family, worked through with symbols of fertility, protection and tribal belonging. That's the source of the style's characteristic freedom of composition: asymmetric diamonds, shifted lines and motifs that never quite repeat, because the rug was made without a template, from memory and a weaver's instinct. Today, Boujaad increasingly finds its way into collections of applied and textile art, prized for an expressiveness rarely found in industrial production. - The Boujaad palette is an explosion of colour — raspberry pink, brick red, orange, violet and deep navy, often paired in bold, unexpected combinations. The pattern can be asymmetric and dense: diamonds, dashes and small symbols scattered across the surface without a rigid grid. This is a rug that refuses to fade into the background — it works as a standalone decorative statement before you've matched a single other thing to it.

- In 2026, we treat Boujaad as collectible textile art, not a boho accessory on its way out. It works as a bold statement in a minimalist, muted interior — where one intense piece does more than ten decorations. - We weave Boujaad from sheep's wool dyed both naturally and with high-quality, light-fast dyes, depending on the palette you choose. The rug's base is sometimes blended with cotton, which adds lightness and a subtle sheen to the thread.

- You choose the intensity and combination of colours, as well as how densely the pattern is placed — from sparse to richly decorated. You can also decide whether you want the full asymmetry of a traditional Boujaad or a slightly more ordered composition.
How it works

Consultation
We arrange a short video call to get to know your room, its dimensions and what you want from your rug. This is when we choose a style together — from raw Beni Ourain to vivid Boujaad — as the starting point for your design.

Design and swatches
From the consultation, we prepare an initial design and post you physical swatches of wool and dyed thread. You feel the material, check the colours in your own home's light, and only then approve the direction of the design.

Wool and colour
We settle on the final colour palette, knot density and wool weight. At this stage, we refine every detail — from the shade of ecru to the depth of black in the pattern — before the design goes to the atelier.

Weaving and loom updates
Your rug is woven by hand in a partner atelier in the Atlas Mountains. Over the weeks it takes to weave, we send you photographs straight from the loom, so you can watch the design become a finished rug.

Approval and delivery
Once your rug comes off the loom, we send photos and video of the finished piece for your approval. Only once you've confirmed it do we arrange insured shipping to your address.
