Boucherouite is the youngest and most unpredictable of our five styles — its name, in Moroccan dialect, means roughly “scrap” or “strip of cloth”. Unlike the centuries-old tradition of Beni Ourain, Boucherouite was born in the twentieth century, when offcuts of fabric, clothing and synthetic fibre from the cities began reaching Berber villages. Rather than throw them away, weavers started working strips of material into the rug's foundation alongside traditional wool — out of sheer resourcefulness and respect for material they didn't want to waste. The result was a completely improvised style: an exuberant patchwork of colour and texture, where cotton, wool, lycra and offcuts of children's clothing sit side by side within a single row of knots. Every Boucherouite rug is genuinely one-of-a-kind, because it's made from whatever materials were available to a particular weaver at a particular moment — it can't be deliberately reproduced. Today, this style, once regarded as the humblest of Berber rugs, is winning recognition among collectors of outsider art and textile lovers for a colour courage rarely found in any other weaving tradition.

- Pattern and palette
- Boucherouite has no single, fixed palette — that absence of rules is precisely its defining trait. Fuchsia, turquoise, yellow, black and pastel shades can all meet on a single rug, arranged in irregular stripes, blocks or geometric fragments. The texture can vary just as much as the colour — smoother in places, shaggier in others, depending on the material used. We think of this rug more as a collage than a classic woven pattern.

- In 2026, Boucherouite is a collector's object for anyone after something bolder than muted elegance — the textile equivalent of outsider art, not a passing boho trend. It works best as a single, strong statement: beside the bed, on a study floor, or hung on the wall like a collage. - We weave Boucherouite from a mix of sheep's wool and reclaimed textile fibres — cotton, lycra and other materials — hand-selected for colour and texture. It's the most materially diverse style in our range.
- What you choose
- During the consultation, we agree the overall colour mood — muted, pastel or maximally vivid — and leave the rest to the weaver's own instinct, since that's what gives this style its soul. You also choose the size, and whether the rug should read as a single field of colour or be clearly divided into sections.
How it works
- 01
Consultation
We arrange a short video call to get to know your room, its dimensions and what you want from your rug. This is when we choose a style together — from raw Beni Ourain to vivid Boujaad — as the starting point for your design.

Design and swatches
From the consultation, we prepare an initial design and post you physical swatches of wool and dyed thread. You feel the material, check the colours in your own home's light, and only then approve the direction of the design.
- 03
Wool and colour
We settle on the final colour palette, knot density and wool weight. At this stage, we refine every detail — from the shade of ecru to the depth of black in the pattern — before the design goes to the atelier.
- 04
Weaving and loom updates
Your rug is woven by hand in a partner atelier in the Atlas Mountains. Over the weeks it takes to weave, we send you photographs straight from the loom, so you can watch the design become a finished rug.

Approval and delivery
Once your rug comes off the loom, we send photos and video of the finished piece for your approval. Only once you've confirmed it do we arrange insured shipping to your address.
